WhatsApp has no “save as PDF” button, so a PDF starts with an export: open the chat on your phone, tap the name at the top, and choose Export chat (on Android it’s the ⋮ menu → More → Export chat). Turning a WhatsApp chat into a PDF is one of the most-searched things couples look up — and WhatsApp itself offers no button for it. Step 1: export the chat from your phone

The export happens entirely on your phone. On iPhone, open the chat, tap the name at the top, and scroll to Export Chat; on Android, the ⋮ menu → More → Export chat. WhatsApp asks whether to include media: without media you get a single .txt of the messages, with media the chat text plus its photos and videos arrives as a .zip. Route A: the raw PDF, done yourself

Open the .txt (unzip the .zip first if you included media), copy the messages into a document, and save or print to PDF — every phone and computer has the button. You get the verbatim record: every message in order, with dates and timestamps, free. The tradeoff is that you’re typesetting a data export by hand: a years-long history becomes a very long document, media needs to be placed yourself, and the result reads like a transcript, not a story.

Which route should you pick?

Pick the raw PDF if you need the verbatim record — messages, dates, timestamps, everything in order — and don’t mind the formatting work. Pick the keepsake if you want something you would actually hand someone: the story in the messages rather than the messages themselves, printed the same day.
