Your chat file stays on your device

When you drop the file in, this website reads it right there on your screen — the same way a photo opens on your phone or computer. Parsing happens in your browser. The raw export never gets sent to us.

02 — what travels

We send phrases and counts — not your messages

To write the warm little captions on each card, we gather phrases and counts from your history — your most-used words, the things you say again and again, ritual patterns, the rhythms of when you text. We send those to our server for processing, along with a very small handful of sample messages — your first few texts and your most recent — so the keepsake can open and close the way your story actually did. Not your entire conversation — just the patterns, and those few samples.

Exactly what we send

When you make a keepsake, here’s what leaves your screen

Total messages, years together, and who sent more — counts only
Your most-used words and short phrases (e.g. “love you”, “home”, “good morning”)
Pet-name and inside-joke candidates — phrases, not full messages
Ritual patterns: good-morning and good-night counts, streaks, busiest hours and days
Message-length and response-time patterns for specific phrases
A very small handful of sample messages — your first few texts and your most recent — for the opening and closing cards
